South African Artist, Theo Paul Vorster

Born in Oranjemund, Namibia in 1958, Theo Paul Vorster started taking art classes at the school and went on to complete a BA degree in Graphic Art at the University of Stellenbosch. At first he followed a career in marketing, but from 1996 he perused art full time. Theo uses the 14th Century method of copperplate etching, adding features like embossing. He explores his surroundings by combining familiar scenes with history, folklore and mythology in a humorous manner. All etchings are hand printed on 300 gram, 50% cotton paper and individually hand coloured with watercolour. His works can be found in private and corporate collections, both in South Africa as well as overseas.
