South African Artist, Louise Kluyts
Born in Worcester, South Africa in 1968 as one of twins and matriculated in Worcester with Art as a subject at the Hugo Naude Art School, with Mr Tiran as teacher. After school she studied Ba Social Sciences at the University of Stellenbosch. After her studies she worked as a graphic designer in the printing industry for 7 years. Louise always had a fascination with functional and recyclable art and became involved in community projects with training artists and crafters in and around Cape Town which added greatly to her own development as an artist. In 2002 she moved to Heidelberg in the Southern Cape and founded the Community Project, African Twist. African Twist now operates independently with 17 crafters earning their livelihood with her designs and projects. In Heidelberg she also established Star Nation Art Studio. Louise participated in a number of group exhibitions in Cape Town and more recently in Heidelberg.
