South African Artist, Gerda Louw

Women in all stages of their lives feature mostly in Gerda Louw’s paintings. Strongly influenced by Gustav Klimt, Henri Rousseau as well as Andre Derain, Gerda’s work focuses on how these women look at life. One often notices roads, windows, doors and railroads in her work, all elements that show the way. Living in Melkbosstrand near Cape Town, also enforces a influence of the sea and her natural surroundings.
